Huawei Announces Mate 30 Pro and It Won’t Have Google Android Apps

Huawei has announced the next generation of smartphones with the unveiling of Mate 30 Pro. Is this the beginning of end of google dominance?

In a colourful event held in Munich, Chinese phone maker revealed that they had been forced to drop Google’s Mobile Services (GMS) license on the Mate 30 series of devices.

In its place, the company has used the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) core.

The Camera – Like expected, the Mate 30 Pro has one of the best if not the best cameras so far. The phone has 4 cameras with the main sensor camera having 40 megapixel and a cine camera with another 40 MP. The others include an 8 MP telephoto and a 3D Depth Sensing. It also has a 32 MP selfie camera.

When it comes to video recording, the phone can shoot on 4K at 60fps and can do a good job recording slow-mo and 4k timelapse.

Display– The phone has 6.53″ display, an OLED panel with 1,176 x 2,400px resolution, HDR and full coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The display has an Always On Mode and supports the M-Pen stylus (which can sense 4,096 levels of pressure).

Battery- The phone comes with a 4,500 mAh fast charging battery. It also has wireless and reverse wireless charging system.

Storage– Mate 30 Pro comes with an 8GB RAM and you can choose between 128 GB and 256 GB storage.

Kirin- It has a Kirin 990 chip and a graphene film that carries the heat away from the chipset to cool it.

Shape– The phone has curved screen edges and will be available in four colors: Black, Space Silver, Cosmic Purple and Emerald Green.

Price– If the phone excites you, for the 8GB RAM and 128 GB storage you will be required to cough $884 while the 256 GB storage will cost you $1,216 and $1,326 for one with 5G specs.

What Next For Huawei?

While the release date of the Mate 30 Pro is not known yet, it remains to be seen whether they will release to the US market.
