Ahead of the 2020 Olympics, Nikon has confirmed the development of “its most advanced DSLR yet,” Nikon D6. It also said that a new fast telephoto zoom lens is in the works, the AF-S Nikkor 120-300mm f/2.8E FL ED SR VR.
Apart from the announcement, no specs were given. However, this is nothing new since the same thing happened with Nikon D5 and the 4S. The D5 model is approaching it’s fourth birthday and it’s probably the right time for a new baby.
The news were released by Nikon Europe through their twitter handle in what some saw as a leak. This would not however be the first leak made to elicit excitement as Cannon recently did the same thing. A week before the announcement of Cannon 90D and EOS Mark II cannon leaked its promo videos and bronchures.
The D6 which is an upgrade of the Nikon D5, is expected to have improved video specs, probably in-body image stabilization and a more advanced auto-focus system.
No further details were given about the Nikon D6 but its expected the release will be before the end of 2019. Nikon D5 and 4S were released 2 months after their announcement. The official announcement of D6 is expected in the next 48 hours, so keep it 10cent Kenya for further details.
